Prime Video's Obsessed Fest Was a Full-On Fan Takeover — Here's Everything That Happened
Prime Video held its first-ever fan event, Obsessed Fest, at nya Studios in Los Angeles this weekend, and it was exactly the kind of thing the streamer's growing YA audience has been waiting for. Panels, meet-and-greets, author signings, red carpet moments, and live music — the whole thing felt less like a corporate press event and more like a convention built specifically for the people who actually watch these shows.
Benito Skinner kicked things off with opening remarks that immediately set the tone. "We can embrace our talent, and it is a talent of watching eight to 12 episodes in one sitting," he told the crowd, adding a joke about diapers that landed exactly as chaotically as intended. Skinner, who created, writes, and stars in *Overcompensating*, then joined a panel called "Over It, Into It" to talk about the show. A second season is already in the works.
The event was organized into three main tracks: film and TV, book adaptations with author signings, and musical experiences tied to Amazon Music. The book-to-screen pipeline was a major throughline. A "Page to Screen Panel" brought out authors including Carley Fortune (*Every Summer After*), Casey McQuiston (*Red White And Royal Blue*), Anna Todd (*The Last Sunrise*), and Mercedes Ron, who wrote both *Your Fault: London* and *Drawn Together (Enfrentados: Marfil)* and holds a first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios.
The "Dear Book Boyfriends" panel packed in Matthew Broome, Damian Hardung, Matt Cornett, Michael Bradway, Belmont Cameli, and Stephen Kalyn — essentially a lineup of every romantic lead currently on the platform. Cornett, previously known from *High School Musical: The Musical: The Series*, plays Sam Florek in *Every Year After*. Bradway plays Charlie in the same show, which was officially renewed for a second season at the event. That season will follow Charlie's novel and love story, *One Golden Summer*.
*Off Campus* also got good news — it had already received an early renewal ahead of its season one launch, and season two is currently in production. There's a cast shift coming: Belmont Cameli served as the romantic lead in season one, but Stephen Kalyn will take over that role in season two. Asha Banks, who stars in *Your Fault: London*, performed her song "Too Busy Missing You" at the event — the same track that appears in *Off Campus* season one.
The "Passport Stamped" panel zeroed in on the platform's international titles: *Your Fault: London*, *Drawn Together*, *The Last Sunrise*, and *Maxton Hall*.
On the film side, the teaser trailer for *The Love Hypothesis* made its debut at the fest. Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman star in the adaptation, which arrives on Prime Video on September 23.
One of the more quietly significant announcements: *Elle*, the *Legally Blonde* prequel produced by Hello Sunshine, drops July 1 — right ahead of the holiday weekend. Lexi Minetree plays Elle Woods. The show has already been renewed for a second season, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, best known from *Never Have I Ever*, has been cast in that follow-up.
There's also *The Devil's Mouth*, a co-production between Prime Video and Lionsgate starring Lana Condor, Kathryn Newton, and Gavin Casalegno — directed by Jeff Wadlow. Condor previously starred in *To All The Boys I've Loved Before* and *XO Kitty*; Casalegno played Jeremiah Fisher in *The Summer I Turned Pretty* and, in a detail that feels very much like a fun bit of trivia, is a former roommate of Matt Cornett.
The day before Obsessed Fest, Amazon executives held a separate internal event taking stock of how well their YA slate has been performing. Peter Friedlander, Head of TV at Amazon MGM Studios, was among those present. The timing wasn't accidental — this is a streamer that has clearly decided the romance and young adult space is worth doubling down on, and Obsessed Fest was the public-facing version of that bet.
