Amazon MGM Studios Taps Randi Chugerman as Head of Series Casting

Amazon MGM Studios has found its next casting chief. The studio has hired Randi Chugerman as Head of Series Casting, with her official start date set for June 29, 2026.
Chugerman steps into a role that has been vacant since Donna Rosenstein departed during Amazon MGM's October layoffs. Rosenstein had held the position for roughly a decade, most recently concentrating on the studio's TV slate. Her exit was part of broader company-wide cuts, not a performance issue.
In her new role, Chugerman will oversee casting across all Amazon MGM Studios scripted series — drama, comedy, and the studio's world-building projects. She'll report directly to Blair Fetter, Head of WorldBuilding Series, which the studio is framing as a deliberate structural adjustment rather than a lateral move.
Chugerman brings serious credentials to the job. She spent over a decade at Sony Pictures Television as SVP of Talent and Casting and Talent Development, working across dozens of series. Before Sony, she cut her teeth in casting at ABC. That's a long runway in a discipline where institutional knowledge and relationships matter enormously.
One name that keeps coming up in connection with her track record: Gabriel Basso. Shawn Ryan, creator of *The Night Agent*, has credited Chugerman with championing Basso for the show's lead role. Given how that series performed for Prime Video, it's the kind of casting call that tends to follow you in a good way.
One open question remains on the organizational chart: Peter Friedlander, Amazon MGM Studios' Global TV Head, has not yet named a Head of Comedy and Drama Series. That gap, combined with the chain-of-command tweak placing Chugerman under Fetter, suggests the studio's leadership structure is still taking shape heading into the second half of 2026.
